Sweet Stone [Closed]

Was looking forward to visit this supposingly cheap and good belgium waffles at Golden Mile Food Centre. Finally went there when ah boy wanna buy shorts at the " Army Market" In case sotong out there, "Army Market" = Golden Mile Food Centre. Golden Mile Food Centre <> Golden Shoe Food Centre. WHAT? I'm confusing you more? Aiya, then you go see http://www.streetdirectory.com/ lor. Humpt

Well... Guess what?? Utter disappointment....

Maybe, that was slightly strong but expectation was not met. A bit pricey for a-super-long-walk-from-bugis-mrt and no air-con and maybe-will-be-trapped-if-raining location. And the presentation was neither good also ( served in styrofoam plate and bowl).

I ordered " 1 couple set " which meant 3 scoops + 2 waffles for $7.

You:" Wat Lau. 3+2 = 5 items for $7, cheap wat... You meow lah!"

Me:" Ya..Ya... See pictures first hor..."

Like that for $7!!!

The size of the plate was the one we normally use for bbq... and I must STRESS, the SMALL PLATE can!! And the container for ice-cream, ppl used to contain rice one lor. The 2 waffles and 3 scoops was all what ya can see in the picture.

But I must admit the waffles were indeed not too bad. Crispy crispy one. But then prolly to some, it might seem a bit tough. Ice-cream, normal lor. What? Ya mean it's gelato? Was it my taste bud, but I seriously think it was comparable to those Jingle Ring Ice Cream Man. Ha.

If I am to go there again which I doubt ( food quality & price dun warrant the long distance walk) , I will just order 1 waffles with chocolate sauce...

Five Cent Driftwood Resturant 无角船板

9:27:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Well, this is a creative building made of driftwood and oyster shells designed by artist Li-Shian Hsieh. Every corner is a piece of art. From outside, it just looks like another piece of art. Who would have guess art and delicancies can blend together so well?

The exterior

Pianist at the basement playing beautiful tunes. It makes dining so artistic!

Sculptures at the entrance

Food I cant comment much, as I was with my tour group. But basically they served chinese food. Most importantly, we were all happily fed...keke

Our lunch

Steamed fish for everyone.. No need to snatch!

Milky Mochi

The texture is superb Q! With a sweet milky taste. I liked it so much that I even bought a box of 6 @NT 100. Must try!

Modern Toilet

8:44:00 PM Unknown 1 Comments

As the name suggests, this is a TOILET-INSPIRED resturant. The settings and fixtures are all toilet bowls, bath tubs, shower heads etc. Even the food are served in toilet bowls, urinates and shits!! It is "disgustingly" amazing!! Aha...Before your mind starts to wonder off to those ECP toilets ( coz I find the toilets there superb dirty!!!! Yucks!!), take a look at the photos below:

Wondering what awaits us.... 怕怕

Clean toilets! Seats made of toilet bowls and tables made of basins.

More bowls

More bowls, basins and even shower heads?

Now you know they are just furnitures. So ready for the food?

Our bubble teas served in urinates.

Piping hot chicken chop served with soup and side dish. Huh, where is the side dish?? There, on the right... Alamak, still cant see? Look at a closer picture then....

Side dish served in SHIT bowl...wahahhahahah...

Baked seafood rice steaming in bath tub

Calamari, chicken pop and fries oso wanna steamed inside bath tub =p

Remind you of anything?

A big bowl of SXXX...erm.. I mean ice-cream!

The Taiwanese are just too generous! They threw all sorts of things like grass jellies, cereals, rasins ....

All these for merely NT690 (i.e S$32)! Good deal, right???

Cafe Biz @ Traders Hotel

7:56:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

This was the awaited buffet. $42+++ for a person must be good lah! But then, I only paid half price, thanks to Woman Weekly voucher again!

And I was most glad that the buffet had not disappointed me. It had in fact, exceeded my expectation and my 20mins walk to the Hotel was not in vain (Please lor, the Hotel was so damn far from Orchard Mrt Station.. I must have walked at least 20mins). But for the sake of good food, I was willing to travel high and low.... =p

The spread was amazingly ===> MANY. And it was not just the varieties of food, even the selection within the category itself was more than other places.

1) The Salad and Fruit Booth
All sorts of vegetables, corns, tomatoes, quail eggs.. Use your own imagination to mix and match! As for fruits wise, they provided pear, prune beside the normal watermelon, papaya & pineapple etc

The Milo Challenge

7:18:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Do ya know that there is actually 2 kinds of Milo in the market? Well, I dunno until recently... Sua Ku, Tortoise in the well, ya can say anything you want... But I'm happy to find a better flavoured Milo!

So for those who are as " innocent "(aka ignorant in a cuter way) as me, note that there is a Australian Recipe Milo selling in most supermarkets.

Well, I'm sceptical at first. The Australian Recipe is a few dollars more than the Local Recipe. Milo is just milo mah... got different de meh? Must be those scheming merchanisers who are trying to confuse innocent consumers like me and you. But been a person who never say dies ( I'm NOT Energizer Battery or the Stupid Rabbit), I'm most willing to drill further to find out why. Keke...

Hence, I made milo from the 2 different country ( Local & Australia) and asked passer-by ( aka my colleagues) to assist in the "experiment".

First ====> The Smell Test

Result: Australian Recipe was more fragrant than the Local Recipe. Australian Recipe Won!!

( In fact, without labelling the 2 cups, my colleague was able to tell which was which... Dun play play!)

Second ====> The Taste Test

Result: Australian Recipe was more chocolately and milky than the Local Recipe. Again, the Australian Recipe Won!!!

Sad to announce, the Local Recipe had tried hard but failed terribly to the Australian Recipe. Hence, the Local Recipe had no choice but to retreat to the dark corner of the shelve... My condolences to the Local Recipe... -__- ~~~

And the final verdict, Australian Recipe is the much better choice! I shall pledge my faithness to it from now on ( after I finished the Local Recipe lor... SOB).
