当初恋爱时,我们没想到分离

当我们分开时,却忘了当初为何在一起

When in love, we dun expect separation

When we are separated, we forget why we are once together

P.S This is quoted from the TV drama serial, not my "voice"!! I'm still happily in love so dun start flooding my mailbox with words of comfort!! I'm warning you!! =p

PHO 24 [Closed]

9:44:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Latest update on 30th Nov 2008.

This chain had closed down. Such a waste as I thought that the beef noodles was really not bad. But I guess it was not sufficient to sustain a business. For a business to survive, you got to rely on a lot of factors like locations, management etc...

********

This was recommended by my colleague, so I decided to try it out since I was around in the area ( Millenia Walk). It was kinda "hidden" in a quiet corner. Crowd was quite pathetic given that it was a Saturday night. But I guess Millenia Walk was not a good location to start of with. The crowd at most of the eateries here just could not compare to those at Suntec or Marina Square. So not a bad idea to walk a bit further and come here for dinner if you could not get a seat at Suntec or Marina Square. Keke.

Perhaps due to the small group of customers to attend, customer service here was kinda extremely warm. We were shown to our seats, and immediately we were given the spices assortment ( picture below) even before making our orders! Kinda taken aback lor... When customer service is bad, we complain like hell. And when customer service is good, we feel weird. One word -> 贱. Hahaha..

I decided to go for the set dinner since it would include a main course, drink and dessert/side dish. Vietnamese cuisine is famous for their beef noodles, Pho Nam is a must. Well, dun ask me what's the difference between Pho Nam and Pho Chin. Polly meant the different part of the cow bah. In the end, we ordered 1 Set A and 1 Set B. Smart rite? So that we can share a side dish and dessert mah... Budget!

Fried Spring Rolls

Seriously I dunno what I was eating. Haha.. Dun get me wrong, I dun mean that it tasted horrible but rather I simply cant make out what was the filling. Polly some vege, carrots shreds etc. Nothing fascinating though..

Pho Nam

This was good!! Well at first, it tasted a bit blend, but the more you drank the soup, the more tasting it became. Try adding some onions, lime, mint leaves from the spices assortment, you would get a totally different taste. It said that the soup used 24 spices to brew, that why the shop was named PHO 24. I truly believe by drinking every bit of it, till the very last drop. The noodles was similiar to guo tiao, but just thinner. Beef was okay, but I find them too thinly sliced! I wanna more meat!! I'm carnivorous!! =p

Dessert

Dun look glamorous huh? But dun judge a book by its appearance hor... The dessert was simple, just corn sago in coconut milk. Not too bad, at least I never eat anything like this before. A refreshing taste indeed!

Considering the price, this was kinda worth it. If you like beef noodles, why not give it a try?

Dessert after dinner @ Oscar

9:39:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

After dinner at PHO 24, we went to Oscar which was just a short walking distance. Dint manage to sell off my Oscar $35 vouchers oso cannot let them go waste mah. And so we decided that desserts would be a good idea! =p

Once we settled down and made our orders, immediately we were offered a bucket of bread assortments.

~*~ Our Desserts ~*~

Desserts were pretty to the eyes, but kinda suffering for the taste. They were either too sweet or too sour! Sobz... Well, I would never come here for desserts on my own if not for the vouchers. Each cost $15+ , which I could get better ones elsewhere. Slightly disappointing though..

Just had our company D&D recently but then the food so-so niao... so I went for a little snack at Coffee Club after the event. Haha.... Super jia lat now, if food not very nice, I cant force myself to eat liao.. Not a bad thing, at least I wont be a glutton and eat anything. But hor, I ended up eating supper. Good or bad, I dunno leh?? hee

Fruity Tiramisu

I love tiramisu, so this really catches my eyes! Somemore, it was so pretty. But it really dun taste like tiramisu, but rather raspberry sorbet. I guess this was taken out from the freezer, hence the mascarpone cheese was kinda icey. Taste wise I would think it was passable niao.. =p

If you know me personally, you know I HATE cockroaches!!! But the more I hate them, the more they seem to be appearing in front of me.

Once, a super big cockroach flew into my bedroom machiam it was a fighter plane. Mind you, I stayed at 10th floor. That was a super long distance to fly, multiply by dunno how many times, considering the size of that stupid bugger. Where was I? I screamed and ran out of the room to get reinforcement aka my mum.

2nd time, I saw a string of ants crawling around my study table. At first, I thought maybe there was food bits hence attracting the ants. So I just killed the ants lor.. But they kept appearing until I super frustrated. So I traced the ants to their destination. Holy Mother!! Super big cockroach dead behind my hair dryer box on my table. SUPER DISGUSTING! Again, I screamed and dear mum got to clean up again.

3rd time, I finished bathing and was packing my bag in front of my study table, preparing to go out. When I took my bag to place my stuff inside, I saw a LUGI BIG LIVING cockroach on the table AGAIN!! My bag kinda blocked my view when I was packing. And this time round, mum was not at home! I was home alone!! SOBZ.. I stared at the cockroach and cried. But I was thinking I got to kill it or else it might crawl to my bed. Bo pian, I went to get insecticide and kept spraying on it, while keeping a good far distance. I almost used half the bottle to satisfy myself that it was dead oreadi, even at the expense of damaging my laptop coz I kinda sprayed insecticide on my laptop as well. After that, I took my bag and went out, leaving the DEAD cockroach on my table. I dare not touch it lah, so got to wait for my parents to come home and clean lor.

Last night, I was writing some birthday cards and when I was done, I needed to paste the envelope mah. So that needed water mah, so I went to my bedroom toilet ( master bedroom). I tot quite fast one so dint turn on the lights. GUESS WAT?? YES!!! There was a LIVING cockroach in my toilet. This time EVEN worse -__-"" I STEPPED ON THE BUGGER BAREFOOT. SOBZ... I screamed like someone was being murdered, in the middle of the night at 2am, and my parents kenak woke up by me. My dad said I screamed until whole block can hear me oso.... =( Anyway as usual, my mum went to kill that bugger who was almost half dead since I stepped on it. Serve it right!!

I oreadi placed like so many cockroach traps in my bedroom: 2 at my study table, 3 on my window grills.. but they are all not working!!!! You know, those traps suppose to emit smell that cockroaches dislike and so they will not come near. I put 5 liao, and still the cockroaches come and go like nobody business! Can anyone recommend me better and effective traps???

Mood: Tramatized =(

Update on 25 June 08

I saw the stupid bugger in my toilet AGAIN!! How many times must they appear in front of me?? SoBZ.... But having undergone numerous "trainings", my radar is super sensitive now. I wanted to do some very serious business, but before I stepped into the territory, I combed the whole place. ALAS! That stupid bugger tried to hide behind the white water pipe. Idiot, it thought that I'm colour-blinded or wat? Perhaps, it was not trained the act of camouflaging in their " army school"??? Of coz, I spotted the feelers moving and it trembled and back tracked slightly.
To the cockroach: "YOU ARE SMALL BUT YOU ARE NOT INVISIBLE!!! BLOODY FOOL!!"

I shouted for my ally aka father and eliminated the bugger straight away... HAHAHHAHA..

To the cockroach and its families, frens and whoever: " DUN LET ME SEE U AGAIN OR ELSE..... DUN BLAME MY MERCILESS. "

A " Long" Day on 13th, The Friday =p

1:49:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

While I was surfing the website one night, I came to know that there was this new spa experience where you lets fishes to nibble around your legs and feet. And so I chosen an "auspicious" date on 13th, The Friday to try it out! At the same time, I wanna check out the localized London Eye => The Singapore Flyer, coz they were both situated at the same place. One stone kills two birds!

As it was quite a distance from the City Hall mrt, we decided to feed our stomach first. After walking in circles in Marina Square, we finally settled with Changing Appetite. Anyway this entry was not meant as a food review so I shant go indepth about it lor. But since I oreadi took pictures, so just showcase them lah..

Lychee Freeze

Grilled Prawn Skewers

Erm, the menu stated it was a TWO TIGER PRAWN on skewers. So I was expecting TWO skewers with BIG prawn. But instead we got this.........

Two pathetic tiny mini prawn on One skewer, not even filling up half of the plate. Btw, this cost $2.90!!! Daylight Robbery!!!

Shanghai Chicken served with Wasabi sauce

Mushroom & Chicken with "crepe"

The Singapore Flyer

1:41:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

After dinner, we started walking to the Singapore Flyer. From far, you can easily spot it coz it was really gigantic! And it was pretty too, coz it would keep changing colours. Anyway, it was not really far as I thought it was. If you were walking from Esplanade, probably just another 15mins can reach liao..

Shuttle services are also available from every 20 to 30mins between 10am - 11pm ( except 1.15pm - 1.30pm and 4.15pm - 4.30pm). Pick up and drop off point is located at the bus stop between St.Andrew's Cathedral and The Adelphi. So if you are going with elderly or small kids or simply feeling lazy to walk, just hop on to the shuttle bus lor!

The big wheel in green from far

The big wheel right above us!

Pretty in Pink

Close up of the capsule

But then I dint board it lah, coz I'll be going for the London Eye. Hence, only taking pictures from outside lor. Keke

Well, now we are at the highlight of the day ~> Kenko Reflexology & Spa!!! A lot of people were standing outside the shop, amazed by the hundreds of small fishes in the tanks. The adventurous few * clear throat* like myself, would actually try the fish spa. Those with a smaller heart like my bf would stand beside the tank and admire. Hehehe

Ma Maison

12:15:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

As promised, I brought to you --------> TA!TA! MA MAISON!!! I've been here a couple of time at Bugis Outlet, even tot I have yet to visit the new outlet at Central. The variety here is not a lot , but I guess they concentrate on serving their best, rather than whipping a wide range of average dishes. I usually order their signature dish, which is hamburger steak served with brown sauce in a stone bowl. It's not written in the menu itself, but on a separate card. And if I remember correctly, it costs around $19.50++

Btw, if you are thinking that the picture above is the signature dish, you are wrong! Obviously it's not beef in the photo, right? Keke.. It's some seafood platter served with Italian rice. Well, never try before... Hmm, dunno whether it tastes good but the picture sure looks appetizing..

Well, this time round I decided to try other stuff in their menu. So while waiting for my food, I started to play with my handphone camera... =p

( P.S that explained the poor photo quality)

Hmm, saw this promotion on the table. Next time must come on monday then! But I wonder how they differentiate which dishes will be discounted and which are not. I always share with my bf mah, so I basically eat every food items we order. And, so rightfully if it's a "Ladies Nights", all the food that I eat will qualify for the discounts. But then again, it means that the discount will be extended to the male dining partners... Weird promotion though... Haha

Wanted to try their escargot, but bf dun really like chewy snails.. Ok lor, anyway escargot quite common nowadays... I was really prepared to "sacrifice" and choose sth else that we would both enjoy. Nvm really.. They cooked the escargot in garlic butter, not really my fav style of cooking.. * Shrugged* Really nvm....

Potato with mustard mayo in gratin style - $7.80

The staff must have heard my silent calling and so they served our order in the same plate used to serve escargot! It was an ultimate combination ~ Cheese & Potato => My FAV!!

I like the cheese wor, would be much better if there was more.... But then the dish was just passable, the potato was water boiled and so did not have much flavoring. I would think that it was okay to give this appetizer a miss... keke. BUT dun quote me! I just find that paying $7.80 for 6 small water-boiled potato with cheese on top slightly beyond my tolerable damage threshold.

Italian Style Hamburger Steak with Cheese - $16.90

This was sth similiar to their signature dish. Aiya, the same hamburger steak mah. Since it was a beef patty, there wasnt much chances to over exert your jaws.. Keke. A simple dish that was prepared with care.

Gratin with prawn and scallop - $13.90

This was macaroni with generous servings of prawn and scallop with CHEESE. Yes, yes, all our dishes contained cheese. We just love cheese!!

See? Big big scallop wor!

This was surprisingly light despite its appearance. So I guess those who hate cheese and yet wanna more calcium for your bones, perhaps you can try this?? =p

Guess what? Beside the commonality of having cheese, our 2 main courses basically do not require any jaws exercise, all can just swallow down your throat. But of coz, that would be an insult to the food & chef for not carefully chew and appreciate the food. Well, that's beside the point.. keke

Anyway they very cute, when you ask for bill, they would pass you a key. Machiam to check out from the hotel.. =)

OrganiCafe Xperience [Closed]

10:12:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

[Decided to have "A Healthier Choice" aka organic food to celebrate Mother Day. Actually I passed by OrganiCafe Xperience before when I was shopping at Novena Square, but it was not very attractive for me to stop and dine there. Well, then I saw that the rating at HGW and you know lah, nowadays people are crazy over organic food mah. So, being very 前未 , I must blindly follow the trend lor..

(P.S Waking up at 9am on a Sunday morning makes me talk MORE crap.... =p)

Hmm, dint know OrganiCafe Xperience opened recently leh.. How come still got flowers de?? Or was it for next door?? HOHOHO.... Well, anyway dun lose focus! We are talking about food here! Come back! Come back!!

My dad ordered the set meal, which included a drink, a soup, main course and a dessert. All these would cost $17.90++. A bit expensive, I feel. Bo pian leh. Another phrase for Organic is "Ordinary Food at Extraordinary Price. " Seriously, I cant taste much difference between an organic food vs a non-organic food. * Shrugged*

The Set Meal ==>

Dun ask me leh, I dunno whether this was organic drink or not...

Soup of the day => Pumpkin Soup

This was good, although I felt that this was just comparable to that served by other places lor.

Grilled Boneless Chicken Legs

" in organic Lavender mushroom cream sauce with hash brown potatos & spring vegetable "

Normal chicken chop. Hmm, dun tell me only the sauce was organic?? And I cant taste any lavender .. Sth wrong with my taste bud? If you are trying, then let me know bah.

Well for the convenience of those who are keen to try the set meal, beside chicken, they also served the following:

1) Roasted Tenderloin of Beef , in mustard sauce served with mash potatos & spring vegetable topped with crispy onions

2) Panfried Assorted Seafood , served with roast potato & vegetable in sake cream sauce

Bread and Butter Pudding Topped with Ice Cream

This was something different, but might not suit the taste bud for all. The bread pudding was hot and soft, which would blend nicely with the ice-cream. But again if you dislike soggy bread, you might not like this dessert.

The Ala Carte==>

Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Organic Thyme Mushroom Sauce ($14.90++)

My mum dun really like the beef. It was too chewy aka difficult too bite off for her. For me, I find the beef texture still alright but not fantastic.

Panfried Cod Fillet with Organic Honey, Pineapple, Chutney accompanied by Japanese Curry Sauce ($14.90++)

My order, and the best among all. The fillet was really soft, even though I felt that it was due to the texture of cod fish itself. You just cant go really wrong with cod fish. The sauce was sweet and sour, and even though it was supposed to be curry sauce, it was not spicy at all. The only fault was the serving -> there was only 3 or 4 small " fish nuggets" portion that was piled high with chunky fries. That was definitely too little, even for me, not to mention for a guy.

Order for my niece, which was just ham & cheese sandwiches. Thought they can do better other than serving cheap picnic ham with cheese on Sunshine bread. I though the tapioca chips taste better. Disappointing and definitely not worthwhile ( I cant rem the price tot)...

Organic Yogurt with Konyaku Jelly Topped with Mixed Fruits ($2.90)
The fruits & the yogurt were sour. While the jelly was too sweet, seemed to soak in cane sugar. Well, I think must stirred everything together to eat lah, but I dun quite like it. Obviously, I dint finish the yogurt. Haha, I think Yami Yogurt tasted much better, $2.90 I can go for the tropicana lor.
