Angelina

Since we were in the Cityhall area, we decided to check out the newly opened Dazzling Cafe. Alas, it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table, so we gave it a miss to try some other cafe. The honey toast we had in Taipei was nice but not that nice to wait 1.5 hour lah.

So we went to Angelina nearby which happened to have a soft launch. We ordered a iced chocolate ($?) and a mont-blanc ($13.50). The mont-blanc is their signature dessert but sadly, we didnt quite know how to appreciate it. It was basically lotza of chestnut cream with a meringue base. You must love chestnut and very sweet stuff to enjoy this dessert.

Service was damn good. They served us ice-coffee instead of ice-chocolate, and after changing the order, they gave us 2 macaroon for FREE. Cool right, totally unexpected.

When it came to billing, we honestly told the staff that we ordered ice chocolate instead of ice coffee, since the former will cost slightly more. But hor, the staff never came back with the bill. We called for bill again, and was given the wrong bill again. Sorry Angelina, we were rushing for our movie and got no time to wait for bill again, we paid the amount stated lor. It was my hubby's bdae, so take it as a treat for him, ya? End of story, service was good but a bit messy la.

Hope they can sort out their internal arrangement, otherwise they will lose quite a bit by giving free food (they also gave our neighbour table bread and butter for delay in their order) and wrong bill.

New Blog Face!

11:19:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I have wanted to give my blog a facelift, for a minimalist and clean look. I plan to do it slowly... BUT BY ACCIDENT, I have saved the change before I'm satisfied with  it. >.<

There are still many changes to be done, e.g. how to add my Instagram code below to show the Instagram carousel, how do I show labels in the individual post (somehow it's not showing). I also prefer to have some pastel colours, now it's too white. Really a big change from my usual blogskin which is more girly and colourful!

On a positive note, I like the dropdown list for my travelogue and food blog. I think it's easier, at least I don't have to manually maintain a list according to the cuisine type. Yeah!

Oh well, got to 'bear' with me while I edit bit by bit ya? Heehee

Chock Full of Beans

11:03:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Fainting in hunger.... Hungrrrrrrrryy
We are now at Chock Full of Beans, which is located at the farrrrr end in the east at Changi Village.
Iced Walnut Brownie - $6.50
This cafe is known for its 3D art latte, so must order! You can request the design you want and they serve it really quick, even though menu said must wait for 30mins.

Back to the drink, it was really nice and aromatic. I can literally smell walnut. :)
Spaghetti Carbonara - $17
Penne with Salmon - $17

The salmon was slightly overcooked, but the tomato cream was great. I love pasta with tomato cream, best of two worlds!
Will probably be back for dessert and coffee. Meal menu is kinda uninteresting, pasta and sandwiches.. Erm, not my fav kind of food lah.
Cute!
Just gonna post one more, too cute la!

Missing in Action (MIA)

2:41:00 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Hi peeps,

I think I had MIA for coming to 3 months? Hope I'm missed?  =p

Taking a break from the "commitment" of taking pictures and posting whenever I'm dining out. How to say, it starts to feel kinda meaningless? I still took pictures using my iphone (becoming a habit), but I just keep to just posting on my instagram and leave most of my time enjoying the meals instead.

Nowadays, does anyone still read blogs? Blogs seems to be replaced by other social media like Dayre, Snapchat where new entries are being updated faster.

I'm guilty myself. If I'm looking for new places to dine out, I will go to Instagram and pick on pictures that look good. Even if I chance upon other blogs, I will skip the wordings or rather, scan through and again just look at the pictures. Is it just me losing the patient to read the words carefully piece together by the authors?

I guess, I will just share in my Dayre since it's easier to post pictures and I can just update on the move.  Please add me @ashleytok! I promise I will update more often if I have more followers. Haha, for now I'm just being a silent stalker. Oops.

I will also update my blog so that the food places are sorted by locations and cuisines for easy navigation.  I will remove my "food grading"  since it's very subjective and purely on my own personal preference and opinion. #slowlybutsurely

I read somewhere that food industry is adversely affected by the so-called food bloggers. Basically, anyone who blog about food is termed as food bloggers. Personally, I don't think it's fair for individuals to grade since we are not professionally trained to do so. Then again, I'm sure we are not out there to kill the industry but  just share our experience. Oh well, it's really tough to draw the line.

I will definitely share travelling details in my blog but due to personal budget, I cant do this quite often. My upcoming trip is to Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe in May, so look out for it. I'm still planning what to do and will appreciate all recommendations. Do email me or leave a comment if you know of any interesting places to go!

With that I shall pen off. Have a great day ahead!

Lepark

11:16:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Be teleported back to the old days. With the gloomy sky, it looks really old ya? Keke
Noticed that Lepark offers platters and tapas, definitely a place for gathering over food and beers. Oh ya, they have lotsa craft beers but since we were early, we didnt order any alcohol.
SEY (Salted Egg Yolk) Soft Shelf Crab and Crabmeat Ball Slider

Oh gosh, such a long name but it definitely describes what to expect in this dish. Almost, except for one. Instead of burger bread, mantou is used.
Poached Chicken Sushi ($8)

This was really nice, a combination of your familiar chicken rice in a mouthful. The chicken was really tender and there was more meat than rice. We adored the dish except for the price.
Wagyu Steak with Straight Cut Fries with Honey Mustard ($30)

Recommended by the staff and we can totally understand why. We ordered medium done and it was nicely grilled and juicy without been too tough. The sauce accompanied the fries was da bomb too; I was told it was truffle mayo. The thing was I dun even like truffle and I really had no idea there was truffle, so I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad new to truffle lover. Haha
